The Epilepsy12 National Audit
As you know, Epilepsy12 started its clinical audit phase in July and Dr Dunkley will be provide an update on the audit at the ANS Scientific Meeting on 28 September.
EEG Services are key to this phase of the project and Kelly helped us to develop the methodology for the clinical audit as the representative of the ANS on the Methodology and Dataset Group. The full Epilepsy12 round 3 methodology can be viewed here but in summary, EEG Services have the fundamental role of helping to register patients into the audit who have been referred by a health board or trust paediatric service for a first EEG following a suspected paroxysmal episode or episodes. Paediatric epilepsy teams can also register patients themselves but we think that in the majority of cases they will rely on EEG Services to complete the initial patient registration.

Dear colleagues
The second project of the year, a service evaluation of Evoked Potentials, has just been released with data acquisition commencing on the 1st April 2018.
The Long-Term Monitoring (Ambulatory/Home VT) project will also be released this month with data acquisition running alongside the EP project (1st April to 30th June 2018)
May I also remind you that the first project of 2018 was released two months ago – please continue to complete forms for all prospective sleep deprived EEGs performed in your department until the end of April.
Thank you to everyone taking part in the National Audit projects. Filling in forms can sometimes feel a little onerous with everything else that we must do, but the data acquired is useful and your efforts are much appreciated. We look forward to sharing the data with you and will keep you updated.
